Student Welfare

The emotional well being of students is critical to effective learning and supports responsible, considerate and socially acceptable behaviour. Student welfare involves a broad range of policies, programs, procedures and processes that serve to meet the personal, social and learning needs of students. Student welfare at Kanwal Public School is enhanced by a caring, nurturing and safe environment.

Student welfare at Kanwal Public School provides opportunities for students to enjoy success and recognition, to make useful contributions to the life of the school, to derive enjoyment from their learning and to develop satisfying relationships with others. Student welfare is achieved through the teaching of core values, the delivery of a meaningful and dynamic curriculum and an appreciation of how students learn most effectively.

Effective discipline and student commendation systems are incorporated into the student welfare policy.

From 2009 the school will be implementing a program that focuses on emotional well being, resilience and the foundations of achievement. This program is designed to teach and recognise positive behaviours and habits of the mind. Specifically, the program teaches skills and understandings in organisation, persistence, getting along, confidence and resilience (the foundations of achievement).
